MASTERPIECE je probíhající serie odpoledních setkání ve Vídni (občas i mimo) zasvěcených studiu a kochání se unikátními čaji a hudebními skvosty. Pořádá je Sven Schwannberger, vídeňský hudebník, muzikolog a milovník čaje. V duchu renesančních tradic, barokní salonní kultury nebo legendárních čínských literárních kruhů dynastie Song budou mít malé skupiny účastníků možnost rozšířit obzory při poslechu hudby se šálkem dobrého čaje. MASTERPIECE si našlo domov v nejkrásnější vídeňské čajovně – ONE LEAF TEA LOUNGE, ale pátrání po dalších inspirujících místech spojených s čajem jsou již v plánu.

Sven Schwannberger je hudebník a adept chadao. Jako čajmen pracuje převážně s čínským čajem, zejména v tradici chaozhou gongfu cha, kterou se stará věrně rozvíjet i v evropském prostředí. Jako hudebník a muzikolog specializující se na hudbu 16. a 17. století vystupuje jako zpěvák, flétnista a hráč na loutnu. Prolínání těchto dovedností a jejich studiem s přáteli a spřízněnými dušemi, je pro něj nejen něčím konstruktivním, ale pro život i nepostradatelným.

Zvuk strun a chuť čaje se k sobě dokonale hodí. Po celá staletí byla hra na guqin nepostradatelnou součástí čajových setkáních mandarínů. Zvuk loutny, nejušlechtilejšího a nejpoetičtějšího evropského strunného nástroje, bude kombinován s degustací prvotřídních čínských a japonských čajů ze série MASTERPIECE.

Bohatý repertoár skladeb pro loutnu se stane zlatým hřebem odpoledního programu MASTERPIECE:
Odezní sólová hudba Johna Dowlanda, francouzské  renesanční tance, madrigaly, chansony a rovněž rafinovaný svět francouzské barokní loutny.

Připravený výběr hudby bude představován opakovaně, s malými rozdíly mezi jednotlivými nálevy čaje, aby bylo účastníkům umožněno hlubší pochopení tohoto hudebně-čajového ceremoniálu.

Výběr nejlepšího čínského porcelánu, pocházejícího mimo jiné ze slavné oblasti I-sing (Yixing), a starověkých čajových nádob z Číny a Japonska, ale rovněž keramiky vytvořené předními evropskými tvůrci, bude tvořit základ pro přípravu pečlivě vybraných čajů.

Není totiž možné mluvit o požitku z chuti čaje bez docenění používaných nádob.

MASTERPIECE is an ongoing series of afternoons in Vienna (and sometimes on tour…) devoted to the study and enjoyment of extraordinary teas and musical gemstones. They are hosted by Sven Schwannberger, a Viennese musician, musicologist and tea-person. In the tradition of Renaissance Accademie, baroque Salon-culture or the legendary literati circles of the Chinese Sòng dynasty, small groups of curious guests explore, enjoy and discuss the pieces and teas. MASTERPIECE has found its home in Vienna‘s most beautiful tea place, the ONE LEAF TEA LOUNGE… occasional visits to other exciting places for tea are planned.

Your Host Sven Schwannberger is a musician and a student of chadao. As a tea person he is mainly working on chinese tea, particularly chaozhou gongfu cha and its respectful adaptation to a European context. As a musician and musicologist, he is a specialist for the music of the 16th and 17th century, which he approaches as a singer, flautist and lute-player. The combination of those arts, and the collaboration on them with friends and soulmates is not only logical for him, but simply necessary for his life.

The sound of strings and the taste of tea seem to be a perfect match. Since many centuries in China the gǔqín has been played during tea gatherings of literati. The lute, being the most noble and most poetic of all european plucked string instruments will be combined with artisanal teas from China and Japan of the MASTERPIECE series.

The vast repertoire for lute and lute song will be in the center of the MASTERPIECE afternoons: Solo Music by John Dowland, french Renaissance Dances, Madrigals, Chansons and the refined world of the French Baroque lute will be presented. A small selection of music will be presented multiple times with slight variations between tea-infusions to allow a deeper understanding and enjoyment of the musical treasures.

A selection of finest chinese porcelain, Yixing pottery, ceramics by Europe’s leading tea pottery artists and also antique teaware from China and Japan will be used to prepare carefully chosen artisanal teas. Appreciation of tea and teaware has always been intertwined.
